2017 Kentucky Derby Betting Preview

Ever heard of Classic Empire? You soon will. In today’s 2017 Kentucky Derby betting preview we examine early betting odds for Classic Empire to win the 143rd Kentucky Derby.

According to most horse racing experts, Classic Empire is the early favorite to win the 143rd running of the Kentucky Derby. Future’s pools have Classic Empire listed at 5/1 betting odds. 

Trainer Mark Casse has indicated that Classic Empire may miss the Fountain of Youth due to a hell abscess. That being said, there is a chance that we’ll get to see a preview of Classic Empire at the Tampa Bay Derby.

Classic Empire has recorded 4 first place finishes with two of them coming at Churchill Downs. In Classic Empire’s last race, the Colt finished in 3rd at the Holy Bull Stakes which makes him our early Kentucky Derby online betting favorite for 2017. 

Classic Empire is being jockeyed by Julien Leparoux who is seeking his first Kentucky Derby win. Leparoux has ridden on the Kentucky circuit for several years, however his best chance at winning the Derby in previous years was when he rode Union Rags back in 2012.  In that year, Leparoux finished the race in 7th place.

Classic Empire leads all other horses in terms of qualifying points for the Kentucky Derby. Many horse racing enthusiasts have said that Classic Empire might be the best thoroughbred in the entire field.
