Both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes have come and gone and heavy favorite California Chrome took home both wins. Although California was a strong 5/2 betting favorite going into the 2014 Kentucky Derby, there was speculation that he may not have even raced in the Preakness Stakes because of a splinter. That splinter seemed to have no bearing on his Preakness Stakes running as he also won the second leg of the Triple Crown.
Now, on Saturday, June 7th, 2014 in New York California Chrome will attempt to win the Belmont Stakes thus making him the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed did it in 1978.
