Anneau d’Or Kentucky Derby Odds

Blaine Wright trained colt, Anneau d’Or, looked impressive in his first three starts. Notching one win and finishing second in his next two races. One of which was the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. Last week, Wright was expecting a win or a top three finish for his horse. However, Anneau d’Or came out flat and finished ninth.

Due to his poor finish, there was speculation that the horse could have been hurt during the race, but Wright said he was healthy and couldn’t figure out what caused the horse to have such a poor showing.

“I kind of wish I could give [everyone] an excuse as to why he ran the way he did, but he came out of the race just fine,” Wright said in this week’s Golden Gate Fields stable notes. “We did some bloodwork on him and everything came back normal. He scoped clean. He jogged sound down the shedrow. Will resume training at Golden Gate and we’ll decide what to do with him next in the coming weeks.”

Wright had been planning to enter Anneau d’Or in the Santa Anita Derby after the Risen Star Stakes, but his poor performance lead to a change in plans. The three-year-old is currently 14th in the Kentucky Derby leaderboards with 12 points. With two full months left before the Derby, the colt can still earn a spot in the race, especially if he is entered in any of the big point races like the Sunland Derby, which awards the winner with 50 points, or the Santa Anita Derby, which awards 100 points to the winner.

However, if he is going to make it to the Derby this year, he will have to bounce back from the Risen Star performance with better ones.
“This game is full of peaks and valleys,” Wright said. “We’ll hold our heads high and keep taking good care of our horse.”

Kentucky Derby Points Standings Modernist

Over the last seven years, the Kentucky Derby points standings cutoff for the 20 horses trying to qualify for the Kentucky Derby was between 21 and 30 points. Modernist has 50. However, last year, Bodexpress barely made the field of 20 even though he had accumulated 40 points.

This year, industry experts are expecting another competitive qualification process, which is why we decided to take a look at where the horses trying to qualify for the 2020 Kentucky Derby currently stand.

Expected to qualify:

Mr. Monomoy, 52 points

He is coming off a win at Saturday’s Risen Star, which gave him over 50 qualification points, which should be enough based on historical data.

Modernist, 50 Kentucky Derby points standings

Modernist has looked good in 2020, winning his last two events. With two wins in four races, he has earned enough points to participate in the Kentucky Derby.

2020 Kentucky Derby Points Standings

Kentucky Derby Points Standings Modernist

Enforceable, 33 points

In the past, 30 points would be enough to guarantee a spot in the Kentucky Derby, but after last year, it doesn’t look like it will be enough. Finished second at the Risen Star after winning the Lecomonte in January. He should earn enough points to qualify for the Derby with a good performance at next month’s Louisiana Derby.

Storm the Court, 22 points

He followed up a win at the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile with a disappointing fourth place finish at San Vincente.

Tiz the Law, 22 points

He is considered one of the dark horses to win the Kentucky Derby if he qualifies. Also, he won his first two races before finishing third at the Kentucky Jockey Club in November, after getting off to a bad start. He bounced back with a win at Holy Bull and will be one of the favorites at next month’s Florida Derby.

Thousand Words, 20 Kentucky Derby points standings

He is off to a perfect start, winning his first three races. He is expected to be the favorite at next month’s San Felipe Stakes.

This year, Nadal looks like one of the best horses Baffert has going into the Derby after surviving a big test on Saturday at the San Vicente Stakes.

Nadal made his second start at the race and was hounded by Ginobili for most of the race before inching away at the end to get the win.

“I figured they would take it to him, although I didn’t think they would go that fast,” Baffert said, referring to fractions of :21.01 and :44.09 for the opening half mile. “I told [Joel Rosario], ‘Don’t get cute with him today. Let’s get this out of the way. Don’t grab him today. We can rate him another day. If he’s going to get beat, let him get beat.’

“I really trained him light for this race. I wanted him to have to gut it out. Those good horses, they find a way.”

Steve Asmussen Hoping To Win Kentucky Derby 2020

Trainer Steve Asmussen has won a lot of races in his illustrious career. Will Kentucky Derby 2020 be his next one? Also, Asmussen has won more races than any other trainer in the country. As a matter of fact, he could end up breaking the record for all-time wins by a trainer by 2021. Even though Asmussen is already in the Hall of Fame, the legendary trainer has never fielded a horse that won the Kentucky Derby.

I get asked that question all the time,” Asmussen said when asked if people ask him if he has ever win the Kentucky Derby.

“The fellow traveler in the next seat on the airplane asks; the cabbie asks on the way to Belmont Park; the waiter asks after describing the day’s specials. Nobody asks if you’ve ever won the Preakness, or the Kentucky Oaks, or the Breeders’ Cup Classic, or the Dubai World Cup or the Pegasus World Cup. They all ask, “Have you ever won the Kentucky Derby?”

“When somebody asks me that,” Asmussen explained, “I say, ‘No, I haven’t won it, but I’ve started more horses in the Derby without winning it than anybody else.’”

Even though he hasn’t had a lot of luck at the event, he is still optimistic that he will eventually win the race. Some believe it could happen this year because Asmussen has a talented group of three-year-olds that will likely be at the Kentucky Derby in May.

“It’s there,” Asmussen said about a Derby victory, as if he could make it out clearly, somewhere in the distance. “It’s in the works. It just hasn’t happened yet.”

Horse Racing Bill Opposed by Churchill Downs Inc

A new horse racing bill is being opposed by Churchill Downs Inc. Proposed bill would give a new authority overseeing U.S. horse racing. Name will be known as the Horse racing Integrity Act. In the middle the two shall meet? Not likely.

“Right now, there are almost no controls on what therapeutics horses are given while in training.” Said retired jockey Chris McCarron at a House subcommittee’s hearing. McCarron is obviously pushing for the change.

“Status quo is there. With 38 different states governing one industry. There are 38 different sets of rules and penalties and numerous different laboratories. Tests are using different standards. It is not working.” added McCarron. McCarron rode the winner at two Kentucky Derbies. He is backing the legislation.

Horse Racing Bill Not Popular With Racebooks

Proposed bill has gained support recently. Due in part to the numerous horse deaths at racetracks last year. In addition to Churchill Downs Inc., top officials from New Jersey’s Monmouth Park Racetrack and the Association of Racing Commissioners International also spoke out against the new horse racing bill that Churchill Downs Inc is against. Do you agree with the bill?

“I’m opposed to federal legislation. I don’t think federal legislation should be in our business.” said Dennis Drazin, Monmouth Park’s chairman and CEO. Speaking to members of the House Energy & Commerce Committee’s consumer protection subcommittee. Many horse bettors are upset, for instance.

“Furthermore, although I’ve been opposed to federal legislation. I want to be part of the solution. Not part of the problem — in preventing this. I’ve worked hard with my colleagues on the NTRA special committee to come up with comprehensive solutions for you.” Drazin added, referring to the National Thoroughbred Racing Association.

Therefore, in its statement. Churchill Downs Inc. said the proposed legislation, “which is very controversial across the industry. Is laudable in seeking fairness of competition through medication reform. A concept we absolutely support, but lacks broad consensus on how it will work, how it will be funded and what agency has the expertise and willingness to provide the necessary oversight.” Horse racing and gaming company, which owns the Churchill Downs racetrack. Where the Kentucky Derby takes place every May. Also, said the horse racing bill “does not address track-safety protocols.” What does this mean for Churchill Downs Inc?

“However, we will continue to implement meaningful procedures at Churchill Downs. Also, address the safety and welfare of our equine and human athletes. Obviously, this will be tough. Also, this commitment extends to working with industry leaders and regulators,” the company added. Will this be the last Derby unregulated? In conclusion, stay tuned for more details.

John Velazquez Blames Bodexpress Fiasco on Miscommunication

Belmont Stakes online betting is next month. During last week’s Preakness Stakes, veteran jockey John Velazquez fell off Bodexpress. This, right after the race began. Leaving the horse to finish the Preakness without a rider. Fortunately for Velazquez, getting bucked off the horse did not result in a serious injury. He was however very upset.

A few days after the race, the jockey made an appearance on CNN. This was to explain what happened after the horse left the gate, blaming the mishap on miscommunication between himself and the assistant starter.

“When the gates opened, I think my assistant starter wasn’t ready for it,” said Velazquez, who flew high out of the saddle. This was when Bodexpress moved.

Before he left the gate, Bodexpress leaned against the right side of his gate. Also, squeezed Velazquez’s foot halfway out of the iron.

“The second that horse jumped out the way he did, I knew I was in trouble,” he told CNN, adding that due to the incident, “It seems like I’m getting more press than the winner, War of Will.”

Belmont Stakes Online Betting on Bodexpress

Bodexpress Belmont Stakes Online Betting

Even though Bodexpress managed to finish the race, the people who bet on him weren’t happy. This because they did not receive a refund due to a controversial Maryland rule. Making it the second consecutive Triple Crown race that ended in controversy. What will happen in the third leg?

According to the rules, if there is a gate malfunction, the rules say the starter determines who did or didn’t get a fair start, not the stewards. You can see why many would be upset.

Even though a lot of fans believe the stewards should have made Bodexpress a non-starter since his jockey fell off at the start of the race. This would have led to a refund of the bets on him. The stewards refused to do so, leaving a lot of people upset.

According to Velazquez, Bodexpress will not participate in the Belmont Stakes on June 8. Do not pick this horse for Belmont Stakes online betting.
